Are you tired of toolbars and tabs slowly robbing you of your screen space? Here are some Firefox extensions you can use to help regain your precious screen real estate.

This has been tested using Firefox 3.5 go to www.mozilla.com/firefox/ to get firefox.

How We Will Do this

Here are 3 ways we are going to regain our screen.

  1. Autohide toolbars
  2. Shrink Bookmark toolbar items to their favicons only
  3. Shrink tabs to their favicons

Install The Stylish Firefox Extension

Stylish is a very nice plugin for customizing the display settings of websites, it also has the ability to customize the look and feel of Firefox using CSS. Don't worry if you don't even know what CSS means, Stylish has a bunch of user contributed CSS that we will use so no coding is necessary.

Autohide Google Toolbars

Next you need to decide how you want to hide your toolbars. Here are your options.

Install The Correct Stylish Styles

  • To install a Stylish style go to the web page for the style.
  • At the top of the page on the right is a menu
  • Click the "Install with Stylish" button
  • Click the Install button

Autohide Text In Toolbar, Display Favicon Only

Add the Faviconize Tab Firefox Extension

Congratulations you have just now reclaimed your browser space. Enjoy your feeling of empowerment!
